LOS ANGELES, CA (LA ELEMENTS) 7/13/2016 – “A, think of something that you love, something that makes you happy, ” says supermodel Tyra Banks addressing the crowd at Beautycon LA. “It could be a donut; it could be chili cheese fries or b, think of something that makes you pissed. Something that you just are like ‘ugh, block, delete’, either or, think about that thing, stare straight ahead and squint your eyes and think, ‘Oh my God I can’t wait to bite you donut’ or ‘Oh my God, I can’t wait to block you bitch’ and squint your eyes and look through that person, look through that donut hole to the back of the room, hold it, hold it, hold it…. the camera will snap and baby that’s a smize!”
A center stage tutorial on how to take the perfect photo given by none other than Banks herself was just one of the highlights of Beautycon LA, 2016. Fashion and beauty tips, gift bags filled with makeup and the chance to meet up with stars of music, television and of course, YouTube, drew thousands of fans to the LA Convention Center on July 9, 2016. Although previous Beautycon LA events had been held at the Reef, the growing popularity of this event demanded a change in venue.
Captivating the 15,000 + crowd, were panel discussions addressing thought provoking topics such as “The Changing Face of Beauty”, makeup giveaways and makeup products available for purchase. Cosmetic brands represented at Beautycon LA included established names Maybelline, Tarte, Loreal and NYX as well as newer ones such as Tyra Beauty, created by Tyra Banks and Illuminate, created by Ashley Tisdale. Live entertainment was provided by recording artists Jack & Jack.
Dedicated to the mission of empowering young women, Beautycon LA donated a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales to I Am That Girl. This foundation aims to inspire girls to “love, express and be exactly who they are” through education, community resources and positive media expression.
We had the pleasure of catching up with celebrity guests on the pink carpet. Here is what they had to say about what they love about Beautycon LA as well as what fashion and beauty tips they wanted to share with their fans.

What do you love the most about being here at Beautycon LA?
Well, I just got here and I’m already freaking out because I see all the brands and all the makeup from companies that I love. I’m actually doing a panel so I’m really excited about that. I love makeup so much I take pride in doing my makeup so this is like a Disneyland for me.
What’s your favorite brand of makeup?
“Honestly, I love Nars and I love Anastasia but drugstore….I love NYX. They’re super cheap and they have really good products.
How is your summer going so far?
Good! I am actually filming a movie in Atlanta right now and I flew back just for Beauty Con and I go back tomorrow. It’s a little overwhelming but I’m excited.
Can you tell us more about the movie?
It’s called A Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love. There was a movie that came out last year called A Coat of Many Colors and it’s the story about Dolly Parton’s life. So this is the sequel to that and I play Dolly Parton’s older sister in the movie. She’s like ten years old in the film.

What do you enjoy the most at Beautycon?
My favorite part of coming to Beautycon, is meeting my subscribers and putting a face to a username. You know, you can comment so many times and just talk to your subscribers online, but when you get to see them and you get to see their faces light up when you meet them and you’re like, ‘why are you so excited to see me? I’m just a normal person,’ seeing that and being able to interact with them like they’re my friends is amazing.
Do you have any fashion tips that you would like to share with our readers?
Wear whatever you want and don’t listen to other people saying that you can’t wear certain things and it doesn’t look good on you, just embrace yourself and embrace your inner style because I will dress grunge one day and then I’ll dress in hot pink another day. I do this because I like it and I feel you should wear whatever you like.”

We’d love to know a little bit more about the words tattooed on your right shoulder.
It’s a quote from Gia, the model, it’s from her journal. It’s about life, death, energy. It’s a motivational quote. It’s kind of like, ‘all the pain that you go through in life it’s still worthwhile to go through it because you grow through it.
Jordyn Jones, Actress/Singer

My favorite thing about Beauty Con is meeting everybody and just being here again. It’s my third time and it’s so great to be back.

Any personal beauty tips that you can share with our readers?
I would say that for the summer my tip is to hydrate your skin. I got burnt at the beach and I’m pealing so I just need to hydrate my skin so hydrate and wear sunscreen!

What’s the best thing about being here at BeautyCon LA?
Oh my gosh! What’s better than talking, getting some makeup and everyone around you loves makeup and hair. I mean it’s amazing! Just talking and meeting fans is awesome!
What is your number one beauty tip that you would like to share with our readers?
My number one beauty tip? I have been saying this all day today. I use tape on the edge of my eyes to get my eyeliner to go straight and nice and sharp so yeah, you put it right on the edge and then draw with your eyeliner.
And that’s a wrap on Beautycon LA for LA ELEMENTS. Until next year.
