Hollywood, CA (LA ELEMENTS) 11/15/2016- “I am very much influenced by Hungarian culture which is very diverse and colorful,” says fashion designer Makány Márta, speaking to us through an interpreter. “I am also very much influenced by Hungarian art. Not just the silhouettes, but also the prints on the fabric, I designed.”
Márta presented her latest collection during the first night of fashion runway shows at ReveLAtion LA on November 5, 2016 at Siren Studios in Hollywood. Utilizing her Hungarian heritage as inspiration was a visual gift. Models walked before a capacity crowd in an array of designs rich in color, ranging from bold vibrant hues to a delicate palette of pastel shades.
Long known for her couture bridal designs, Márta’s collection embraced elements of the classic, with Chanel-esque tweed and wool suits and the romantic, one standout was a translucent silk gown graced with a delicate floral motif. Márta also presented ensembles that veered completely in the opposite direction with edgier silhouettes and construction. There were a number of memorable looks within this collection. A collection that took chances and clearly impressed.
It’s always a highlight of any fashion show when celebrities walk the runway and at Márta’s show, it was a family affair. Walking for Márta, was actress Shari Belafonte from General Hospital, daughter of legendary singer and civil rights icon Harry Belafonte. She was joined by her sister-in-law, Malena Belafonte, whose acclaimed career as a model includes campaigns for Calvin Klein and Bulgari.
