Live Action Shorts will be getting ready for their close-up on Vilpa Max.
HOLLYWOOD,CA (LA ELEMENTS) 12/20/2025 – “At Vilpa Films and Vilpa Max, our mission is to champion extraordinary cinema while creating a bridge for emerging filmmakers to enter the international distribution landscape,” says Mexican producer, filmmaker and author, Alejandro Vilpa.
Villpa’s boutique production company, Vilpa Films, will launch Vilpa Max on January 31, 2026. The platform will be dedicated solely to the art of the short film and their creators. Among the notable films to be featured at the inaugural launch are the following:
Le Mozart des Pickpockets Director Philippe Polet-Villard won the 2006 Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film for his tale about the two men involved with a pick pocketing ring in Paris, and the child who enters their life.
All the Crows in the World Director Yi Tang’s portrayal of a young woman’s encounter with the dark side of desire, won the Short Film Palme d’Or at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.

The Red Suitcase Cyrus Neshvad directed the story about a 16-year-old Muslim girl trying to escape an arranged marriage to fulfill her dream of being an artist. The Red Suitcase scored an Oscar nomination for Best Live Action Short at the 2023 Academy Awards.
Other short films slated to be featured are past official selections at the Cannes Film Festival: Pool from director Dean Anderson and Love is Blind from director Dan Hodgson. Writer/director Lisa Cole’s Bienvenidos a Los Angeles, which was shortlisted for last year’s Academy Awards, will also be featured on Vilpa Max.
How can Vilpa Max elevate the artistry of the Live Action Short genre? “We curate and produce work that stands alongside Oscar-winning and Cannes-acclaimed films, offering audiences a catalogue defined by vision, craft and cultural impact,”says Vilpa. “At the same time, we empower new voices by giving them opportunities to gain international visibility and positioning as they continue building their careers.”
Vilpa Max will initially roll out in the UK, North Africa, and Middle East before moving onward to other locations. Audiences will have the choice between a “freemium” model with ads and a paid subscription option without ads.
