LA Times Pulitzer-prize winning restaurant critic Jonathan Gold, presented Salgado with his award at the launch party for the second annual <a href=\"http:\/\/lafoodbowl.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LA Food Bow<\/a>l. Photo: Jennifer Johnson<\/p><\/div>\n<p> <\/p>\n<p>The Italian restaurant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rossoblula.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rossoblu<\/a> at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.citymarketsouth.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">City Market South <\/a>in Downtown Los Angeles, was the site of LA Food Bowl\u2019s opening night, on Monday, April 30<sup>th.\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup>The theme for the evening\u2019s special event was, \u201cThings In A Bowl,\u201d and attendees were treated to selections from some of the top restaurants in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>Great food and drink are part of what make the nightlife here in LA hard to beat. Sarah Yenbamroong, Chef Kris Yenbamroong\u2019s wife described <a href=\"http:\/\/nightmarketsong.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Night + Market<\/a> as offering, \u201cThai food that goes really well with alcohol.\u201d This restaurant dished out their Sahm Chopped Salad to LA Food Bowl guests. No meat at all. if it wasn\u2019t for the cornbread it would be vegan,\u201d says Justin Terry, Director of Catering for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.welocol.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LocoL<\/a> \u201cLocoL is really about the people. The food, the restaurant, is all designed to serve people that normally just wouldn\u2019t have access to a place to go buy a decent affordable meal. A lot of the dishes are inspired by them, some of the dishes are designed by them, with our chef\u2019s guidance. A lot of this stuff is stuff that they would normally eat just with a little bit of a twist on it. So red beans and rice with crispy collard greens, that\u2019s something people would normally eat and it\u2019s vegan. We were restaurant of the year last year so it\u2019s a big deal for us. We owe a lot to Jonathan Gold.\u201d\u00a0 LocoL was started by Chefs Roy Choi and Daniel Patterson. Photo: Gina Skye<\/p><\/div>\n<p> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hornitostequila.com\/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=ppc&utm_campaign=int_general&utm_term=hornito%20tequila\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hornitos Tequila<\/a> kept the drinks flowing and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wanderlustcreamery.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wanderlust Creamery<\/a> was on hand to serve some of the finest gelato we\u2019ve ever tasted.\u00a0 \u201cEverything that we have is made in-house,\u201d says Wanderlust Creamery representative Valerie Myers. \u201cAll the flavors are artisanal, we use an organic, grass-fed dairy and every recipe that we have is made by one person, our owner Adrienne Borlongan.\u201d The flavors are inspired by places around the world that Borlongan has visited.
