LOS ANGELES, CA (LA ELEMENTS) 8/31/2025 – “Fraser T. Smith is widely recognized as one of the UK’s Most influential and sought-after producers and songwriters, whose musical contributions and ability to span genres created some of the most impactful songs of our generation,” says BMI President and CEO Mike O’Neill.
The musical artist has received acclaim from both sides of the Atlantic. Stateside, Smith won a GRAMMY award for his work on Adele’s album, 21. He was honored with a Latin GRAMMY for his collaboration with Mexican duo Jesse & Joy on Un Besito Mas. Over in the UK, he is the recipient of three Ivor Novello Awards for “Question Time,” “Black,” and “Children of the Internet,” all performed by British rap star Dave. He has had collaborations with acclaimed recording artists such as Drake, Sam Smith, and recently produced Snow Patrol’s album, The Forest Is the Path, the band’s first No. 1 album in 18 years.
Smith’s musical contributions will be recognized at the 2025 BMI London Awards on September 29 at The Dorchester. During the ceremony, he will be presented with the BMI President’s Award. The private event will be hosted by BMI President and CEO Mike O’Neill and EVP, Chief Creative & Revenue Officer Mike Steinberg.
Smith has also received critical acclaim as a solo artist. His 2020 debut, 12 Questions, was recorded under the moniker Future Utopia and featured a memorable roster of artists including Stormzy, Dave, Kano, Ghetts, Bastille, Es Devlin Simon Armitage and Idris Elba. Earlier this year, Future Utopia released two brand new singles, “Don’t Try This at Home,” and “The Pleasure Trap” with Lava La Rue.
As a BMI President’s Award honoree, Smith joins an elite group of previous recipients including Benny Blanco, Luis Fonsi, Noel Gallagher and Imagine Dragons just to name a few.
The BMI London Awards will also pay tribute to the British and European songwriters and publishers of the previous year’s most-performed songs on US streaming, radio, film, television and visual media from BMI’s repertoire of over 22.4 million musical works. The BMI London Song of the Year, Million-Air Awards and awards for Pop, Film, Television and Cable Television Music will also be presented throughout the evening.
