Rhonda Shear easily brought the “couture” to the Roger Neal Annual Beauty & Couture Academy Award Suite. “I have a line of intimate apparel and I’ve sold a bra called the Ahh Bra which had sales of 35 million worldwide,” says designer Rhonda Shear. “My love of shape wear and bras brought me to start designing gowns that have built-in shape wear in them. Everything has built in either a body suit or cups or shapewear so it’s just making you look better.”  Shear revealed her plans to extend her fashion label beyond the realm of couture.  “I’m starting out with a one of a kind couture and then I’m going to branch out very soon into cocktail dresses for everybody.  I love old Hollywood and I love glamour.  My inspiration is I love the body conscious.   I like being able to camouflage some things, bging the eye up and maybe even away from certain things.”

Philanthropy was a strong presence at this suite as representatives from a number of outstanding charities were on hand to answer questions from attendees.

“We’re based in Hollywood, we’ve been open since 1880 and we used to be an orphanage,” says Hollygrove Director of Fund Development Julia Connolly.  “In fact, Marilyn Monroe was one of our residents at the age of nine.  We’ve come a long way since then.  We’re no longer an orphanage, we’re now part of one of the largest mental health services providers in the country, EMQ Families First,  Hollygrove is the LA representation of EMQ.  We serve approximately 1200 children and their famiies on an annual basis who have been through all sorts of emotional and mental traumas and basically we create specialized privately funded programs for them.  Everything from therapeutic services to family finding services we try and prevent children who are at risk from being removed from their parents and going into the foster system.  We try and re-connect them with blood relatives to prevent them from entering into the foster system and to hopefully keep them with meaningful individualism their lives.

Other outstanding charity sponsors included Andy Transplant Foundation, which raises funds for patients needing organ transplants and their families as well as research development. DonkeyLandRescue seeks to help protect the wild burros, which are federally protected animals.

Literary sponsors were a strong presence at this particular lounge.

“I play Aurora, a fairy of the nigh,” says Jamie Brewer,” of her role in the upcoming film, Snow Moon: Cinderella Chronicles Sage which is based on the book by Alexandria Altman.  “It’s a neat story line. It’s her life in a fantasy format.”

Attendees had access to the book Snow Moon:  Cinderella Chronicles.  Altman, also wrote the screenplay for yet another upcoming film, Black Sally, based on the book by Lisa Luxen, who was present to discuss her work.

“Alexandria and I met about a year ago,” says Luxen.“At the same time that she was starting her book, I was starting my book.   We really connected so she wrote the screenplay for my movie, which is based on my book, Evil Storms ofAncestry. It’s an autobiography of my life but it’s not a fairy tale.”

“I was a victim of child abuse and my forefathers kept passing down these sins.  It’s called generational curses from one generation to the next.  There was a lot of abuse, a lot of prejudice a lot of disowning people.  Well, I basically hit rock bottom and almost took my life but I changed when Jesus took over and basically saved my life.  I gave my life to Jesus and things all started falling into place.”  Now it’s very very important for people to understand that your ancestors do affect you and they affect your children too.  The way you break that generational curse is you accept Jesus in your heart.  You let Him transform you into the person He wants you to be.”

Nadia Khalil Bradley, was also on hand to discuss and gift copies of her book, Original Love as well as other selections from her writings.

“I write books about self-love because I found out that we can only love people as much as we love ourselves and so we attract people who only love themselves as much as we love us.  So, then we get into these cycles of dating the same people over and over again because we find people who reflect us.  The interesting part is the over and over again because when you don’t understand self love you need people to take care of you and love you instead of realizing you’re there to share love.  So then you get to a point where you outgrow each other and when you outgrow each other one of the two leaves. So this book, Original Loveis an easy book to read.  It tells about truth, love and purity.  It brings you back to the time before anyone said no to you.  When you really thought the world was your oyster.  The book take your soul from good to great.”
