LOS ANGELES, (LA Elements) 10/06/2015- “I grew up by myself with my mom, always moved around a lot and I watched a lot of feature films to escape,” says Ian Bohen of MTV’s Teen Wolf.
Bohen opened up to LA Elements about his childhood and described how he would use his imagination and pretend to be someone else. He started to think of his imagination as an avenue towards his future career as an actor and shared that he would love to have the opportunity to work with children; to get their minds going and get them bright eyed about the arts. When asked what career would he choose if he had not become an actor, Bohen says, “I would be a chef, history teacher or a physicist. I am fascinated by the cosmos.”
Bohen was one of the celebrity judges at LA Tech’s Got Talent which was held at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre to benefit P.S. ARTS. PS ARTS is dedicated to providing education to children in underfunded school districts in Southern California and in doing so, fosters creative, academic and social skills. These skills help them to become more competitive and successful adults.
Dana Brunetti, Academy Award nominated and Golden Globe winning producer of The Social Network, Captain Phillips, Fifty Shades of Grey and House of Cards was also in attendance. Brunetti, like Bohen, was encouraged to be a judge at LA Tech’s Got Talent by a friend involved with the organization. Growing up, Brunetti was not fortunate enough to have anyone who inspired him to get involved in the arts. Nonetheless, he credits Kevin Spacey as a big influence in his life. Brunetti started his entertainment industry career as Kevin Spacey’s assistant and told LA Elements that, “Kevin Spacey was a great mentor to me.”
Laurel & Wolf, a Los Angeles based interior design company, presented the event. Leura Fine, CEO of Laurel & Wolf, was involved with theatre growing up. Through her career in interior design, she was introduced to P.S. ARTS. Fine started attending events for P.S. ARTS and decided to get more involved. “I think that what they are doing is incredibly important to kid’s development. An arts education will serve you well no matter whether you are going into business development, sales or technical development.”
Tech companies showcased their talents outside of tech during the course of the evening. Pete Giovine, the host of the event, started off the show with his raw and edgy standup comedy that kept the audience laughing. Acts included a guitar duo, homage to Elvis Presley and a hip-hop dance routine. Nanxi Liu of Enplug delighted the audience and judges with a beautiful piano composition she wrote, winning the talent competition. Celebrity judge LP, who has written music for Rihanna, Christina Aguilera and Cher, ended the show with one of her original songs.
Libations were provided by Ole Smoky Tennessee Moonshine. Guests also received a gift of $25 off a Laurel & Wolf design package.
