BEVERLY HILLS, (LA Elements) 1-13-2015 – “The celebrities are being gifted either a private suite at Santa Anita Park for them to go with 20 of their friends,” says Director of Sales for Premium Spaces,  Allison Wright. “It’s indoor outdoor and it’s pretty much the best seat in the house and gives you a complete experience for a ‘day at the races’ and then we’re also gifting four tickets to the Chandelier Room for our Guest Chef Series. The Chandelier Room is probably one of the best places to go for a day at the races because it’s been newly renovated and has this Art Deco 1930’s vibe.”

Exclusive suites at the renowned Santa Anita Racetrack were just a few of the gifts enjoyed by the celebrities attending the Secret Room Events Golden Globe Style Lounge on January 8th at the SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills.  Among the outstanding sponsors were those from acclaimed skincare lines, jewelry, and contemporary clothing just to name a few.

“The company started in 1984 and we’re family owned and operated,” says Derma E Social Media and Digital Director Matt Stearn. “From the beginning we’ve been vegan and cruelty free in a world that did not care about that. Starting in 1984 we knew we could do things that were not tested on animals. We could be vegan during a time when nobody cared. Doing ethics and skincare were not necessarily things that people combined, but we knew that it could be.”

How has Derma E been able to keep itself vegan and cruelty free throughout the years?

“By sourcing things that were appropriate and sourcing them the right way,” says Stearn. “Creating products under a vegan halo. Manufacturing with wind power when we could get those credits. We were one of the old school brands that was just niche and weird and now all of a sudden you walk into a room like this and everyone’s like, ‘You’re the brand for me.’ We got started with the concept of ‘how healthy can we get these products?’ Healthy, affordable and ethically sourced is now very very in vogue.”

All attendees of Secret Room Events Style Lounge received gift bags containing Derma E charcoal mask and a daily detox scrub.

All the way from British Columbia came the representatives from Scentuals, an organic skincare company that has been around for over nine years. Founder Mai Mowrey generously gave attendees gift bags filled with products including hand and body lotions, anti-aging facial serums, lip balm, bath soaps and bath soaks. The inspiration for creating Scentuals came from Mowrey’s brother who waged a battle against cancer. “Learning from my brother, we decided we wanted to make a product that would help people rather than hurt. So that’s why our product is all pure, all natural and we even make a line for people with cancer.”

Emily Orbison, the granddaughter of rock legend Roy Orbison, was on hand to gift invited guests Pretty Woman perfume, which was created by her grandmother, Barbara Orbison. What goes into the making of a fragrance named after a rock n roll classic? “Notes of patchouli, amber and organic vanilla with undertones of florals like lily and carnation and also, a little bergamot,” says Orbison.

I always love knowing what goes into those gift bags as it gives the inside scoop on what’s up and coming in fashion and lifestyle trends. I liked the thought that went into creating the products such as Scentuals that work naturally with your body. Can’t wait to check out Orbison’s Pretty Woman!
