BEVERLY HILLS (LA ELEMENTS) 5/9/2017 – It was a time of “firsts” at the 2017 MTV Movie Awards. For the first time, TV shows were also in competition, therefore necessitating a complete name change to the MTV Movie & TV Awards. It was also the first time that men and women would compete in the same acting categories. Celebrating the diversity of the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards, were an array of nominees and fan favorites who gathered at the Luxe Hotel on Rodeo Drive for the GBK Pre-MTV Movie TV Awards luxury gift lounge on May 5 and 6.
The penthouse of the Luxe Rodeo Drive Hotel served as the perfect intimate setting for invited guests who were introduced to a number of outstanding gift and food and beverage sponsors. Here are a few of our favorites:

“We decided that normal kayaking is boring,” says Brian Maxfield of Crystal Kayak. “We wanted to go to the next level and allow people to actually be in the water, feel like they’re in nature. So the concept of clear boats has been around for a long time, but we just enhanced it and really engineered it properly. Celebrities are all signing the kayak today and then they’re going to share it on their social marketing network. Whoever gets the highest engagement over the week gets to donate this to a charity of their choosing, and, we are also gifting one kayak to that celebrity.
Philanthropy at the GBK 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards gifting suite came in the form of the documentary, Stopping Traffic. The purpose of the film is to bring awareness to the tragedy of human trafficking.
“Our film’s coming out in September,” says Stopping Traffic director Sadhvi Siddhali Shree. “We just had our cast and crew screening and it went amazingly well, it was here in LA. In September, we have our big premiere here. Jeanie Mai is involved with the film, she’s featured in it, she’s also the executive producer on it as well. Other celebrities involved are Dolph Lundgren and Kristan Renton. So we’re using many voices to help raise awareness of human trafficking so we give specific calls to action on what people can do.”
Celebrities received a hat, soundtrack and VIP pass to the premiere. They were also gifted a three-day spiritual retreat at the Siddhayatan Tirth and Spiritual Retreat Center.
