HOLLYWOOD, CA (LA ELEMENTS) 3/15/2019 – Make-up artist Patrick Ta counts some of the biggest names in fashion and beauty among his elite clientele. He has created an array of eye-catching looks for Kim Kardashian and Bella and Gigi Hadid, just to name a few. So it’s no wonder that none other than Shiseido would collaborate with Ta for their latest makeup launch.

Ta teamed up with Shiseido to introduce ControlledChaos MascaraInk at the Japan House in Hollywood on International Women’s Day, March 8. The venue itself was conceived by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, with the goal of creating a deeper understanding and appreciation of Japan internationally.  Guests of Shiseido were treated to outstanding Japanese cuisine artistically served in bento boxes.

What makes ControlledChaos MascaraInk stand out among the multitude of mascaras? The brush itself is constructed so that it delivers the optimal amount of mascara to your lashes while maintaining its shape for however long you use it. This mascara comes in three vibrant colors: Saphire Spark, Violet Vibe, Emerald Energy and of course the more classic, Black Pulse.   Also, as Gail Boyé, Senior Vice President of Global Product Development for Shiseido make-up notes, “This weightless formula contains an optimal concentration of hard and soft waxes to achieve the perfect balance of structure, flexibility and glide.  Film formers and polymers set and seal this highly pigmented smudge, clump and flake- resistant formula to lashes for 24 hours.”

The Shiseido ControlledChaos MascaraInk make-up is available now at Sephora and through Shisiedo’s website.

Let’s face it. While colored mascara is back on trend, there are definitely some guidelines to doing it right. Here are Patrick Ta’s thoughts on the best way to get the maximum effect from your colored mascara.

On makeup items that can be used along with colored mascara so that the effect is not overwhelming.

Use a shadow very close to the color mascara of your choice so it blends in with the makeup look and apply to where you have applied the shadow to intensify. I would also pair a blush with similar undertones to balance out the eye look you’ve created. Lastly, I would pair it with a nude lip liner/lipstick of your choice. Personally, I love Shiseido’s Modern Matte Powder lipstick in the shades nude streak, whisper, disrobed and thigh high.

On the best time to use colored mascara-and the not so best time…

I only use colored mascara when the moment is right. When I do, I think it can be fun for a bright spring/summer pop of color or a high fashion avant-garde glam event. When using colored mascara, it is very important to take the entire look into account- make-up, hair, fashion, the event, etc. Be sure colored mascara fits the full picture. If not, save it for another time.

If I had to choose a color I would go with either a peachy pink or a pastel purple for the eyes and use Controlled Chaos MascaraInk Emerald Energy. Both of those colors compliment eyes perfectly while festival hopping.
