Givenchy dresses The Weeknd for Super Bowl 55 halftime show

LOS ANGELES, CA (LA ELEMENTS) 2/16/2021 – “It’s truly an honor to have dressed The Weeknd for his incredible Super Bowl Show,” says Givenchy Creative Director, Mathew M. Williams.  “To me, fashion is all about infusing what you wear with a unique personality, and The Weeknd brought his look to life with his energy, character and sense of style.”

The Weeknd sported a handmade, custom designed jacket glittering with crystals and adorned with intricate embroidery, while performing at the Super Bowl LV Halftime Show.  Created at the Givenchy Haute Couture atelier in Paris, the jacket utilized the talents of four embroiderers and needed more than 250 hours to complete.  The jacket was worn over a black poplin shirt and wool trousers and accessorized with black leather tie and gloves as well as black and white derbies.  The minimalist aesthetic, coupled with expert tailoring and intense contrast, brought to mind William’s debut collection for Givenchy.  Prior to his work at Givenchy, Williams collaborated on collections for Nike and Dior.

Approximately 100 million viewers tuned in for The Weeknd’s performance at the NFL championship game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Florida.  The setlist for the mega-event included the following:  Starboy, The Hills, Can’t Feel My Face, I Feel It Coming, (my personal fave!) Save Your Tears, Earned It, House of Balloons/Glass Table Girls and Blinding Lights.
